At WISDOMMS, we empower children to help them lead an independent and dignified life in which they can contribute to the society in their own competent way. We also strongly believe that, no issue of disability can be tackled in isolation. We work towards integrated development through a series of programmes. Over the years we have changed our syllabus to make it more challenging and more in keeping with mainstream schools. WISDOMMS helps children with disabilities to keep in pace with the rest of the society by providing quality education, vocational training, and help them achieve personal independence. Limited resources have given rise to extraordinarily creative grass root solutions, with an emphasis on Community Based Rehabilitation.

Founders

WISDOMMS’s uniqueness is the development of a Horizontal model of rehabilitation, which is a convergent model, in linking with the mainstream sectors including Health, Education, SocialWelfare thereby including children with disabilities into the routine activities.

Another unique feature of WISDOMMS is its successful attempt to include parents, family members and disabled children themselves as stakeholders in the organization.

The Genesis:

VINAYAGA HABILITATION TRUST was found in the year 2008, by Mr.V.Rangaswamy, a landlord and a social worker. The trust was formed with an intention to work for the special people in the society. Mr.V.Rangasamy envisioned an organization to provide opportunities for the deserving, young and talented children with disabilities of any form. So he started the school “WISDOMMS” on June 6th 2008. Since then, WISDOMMS has been working to empower the mentally challengeable, disabled and the Underprivileged

WISDOMMS LEARNING CENTRE FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN under the banner of “VINAYAGA HABILITATION TRUST” was established and registered on June 2008.There were only six children who enrolled in the centre and three staffs were appointed at the time of establishment. At present the centre has 90 children (boys and girls) and 20 staff members. The age of the children who are admitted in our institute range from 6 months to 14 years, irrespective of their IQ and severity of their condition.

WISDOMMS LEARNING CENTRE is mainly run for children lacking age appropriate academic and non academic skills. The centre is run by Dr.R.BALAMURUGA and his wife Dr. UMAMAHESHWARI BALAMURUGA for the past 19 years.

WISDOMMS LEARNING CENTRE FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN established in the year 2003 caters to the therapeutic intervention and academic needs of the exceptional children and the development of social and academic skills. The centre facilitates education for such children and enables them to be included as potential members of the mainstream society. Mr. R. Balamuruga, the President of the Vinayaga Habilitation Trust, has 19 years of experience in the field of Neurodevelopmental Disorders and its Rehabilitation. Many doctors from reputed hospitals refer special children to our learning centre.
